On 5 November 2019, SST welcomed key personnel from Jurong Pioneer Junior College as part of their strategic planning retreat. The visitors hope to gain better understanding of  the secondary school landscape and student experiences through this exchange. They were hosted by Mrs Linda Chan, SST Principal, who shared key insights of SST’s programmes and curriculum, and how curriculum in the school has been designed to meet the needs of SST students.

VISIT BY PERMANENT SECRETARY (EDUCATION), MINISTRY OF EDUCATION MR LAI CHUNG HAN 9 SEPTEMBER 2019

On 9 September 2019, SST welcomed Permanent Secretary (Education), Ministry of Education, Mr Lai Chung Han and officers from Planning Division and Curriculum Planning & Development Division. SST school leaders shared key insights about STEM education in SST.

They also went on a campus tour.

Students from Robotics @APEX shared about how they were preparing their upcoming competition. A couple of our secondary four students also discussed their post-secondary pursuits with Mr Lai.

VISIT BY SINGAPORE EDUCATION MINISTER MR ONG YE KUNG 29 JULY 2019

On 29 July 2019, SST welcome Education Minister, Mr Ong Ye Kung. SST school leaders and teachers shared key insights about SST’s curriculum, and also took the time to ask questions they had about Singapore’s education landscape.

After the session, Mr Ong viewed some of our students’ projects at the exhibition centre and went to the Art, Design, Media and Technology classroom for a lesson observation.

There, the students shared their concepts for the SST-3M InnoScience Challenge, a part of the ChangeMakers programme. They were tasked to consider issues faced by Singaporeans in the field of transport and safety, and to design an innovative product that will help improve lives.

Several SST students also had the opportunity to share about their SST experience with him. They were able to ask many questions relating to CCA, curriculum and even drones.

The students showed him the SSTunio, a microcontroller conceptualised by SST alumni, which was meant to facilitate ICT learning under the ChangeMakers programme. It is part of the booklist for every Secondary One student.
